Attention,Dear Utol (2025): Week 8 Highlights Episode 45 students: Duolingo is adding a new subject to its course catalog: music.
On Wednesday, the popular language-learning app announced the debut of music lessons. Just like any other language, including High Valyrian, you'll soon be able to learn the language of music the Duolingo way. An early glimpse shows a focus on learning to read and play music in a gamified fashion. The course will offer hundreds of lessons using familiar tunes, through interactive sessions that teach users to learn music such as identifying notes based on sounds and matching pairs of notes.
Duolingo has won over millions of users for they way it provides friendly, bite-sized lessons that users can do in a matter of minutes. Plus, the Duolingo owl that pesters you to do your daily lesson, taps into the primal part of our brain that doesn't want to break a winning streak. Last year, Duolingo expanded beyond language, adding math lessons, and now it's building on its multidisciplinary offerings on with music.
The company plans to share more information and availability in the coming weeks, leading up to a deep-dive of Duolingo Music at its annual conference on Oct.11.
