We all know Twitter hasn't been quite the same since Musk took over. As Musk focuses on Comedy Archivesgrowing his own social presence, Twitter slowly falls apart as its dwindling staff scramble to keep the platform stable. Verification is now a paid feature while other parts of the site are in disrepair and bugs abound.
But if you miss your blue check, you're in luck. A newly found bug can help you get it back — at least for a few seconds. Simply edit your bio. No really; that's it.
Users who discovered the bug originally thought some version of the phrase "former blue check" needed to be added to your bio, but in a sleepy stupor I wrote "former clue check" in mine and my verification badge appeared just the same, even with the typo. When I deleted "former clue check" and wrote "hi" instead, that worked, too. But as quickly as my blue check re-appeared, it vanished. Seconds later it appeared again, then disappeared for good.

The bug seems to only affect accounts that were previously verified by Twitter. I asked a non-verified co-worker changed their bio to see what would happen, and their name remained blue check-less. That's probably for the best: once Musk made blue checks a paid feature, Twitter users went sour on it, sparking a campaign to block blue checkmarked accounts. Once a coveted status symbol, the blue check has lost all value under Musk. At this point, you really don't want one anyway.
