A strain of dedicated Photoshop artists have inexplicably committed themselves to jumbling major brand logos into nonsense words -- and their work is oddly amusing.

As with most weird internet trends, there's already an entire section of Reddit (r/Sbubby) dedicated to the form. There, users have been diligently reimagining dozens of recognizable businesses for months. Some of their handiwork surfaced on Twitter this week in a viral post.

The Twittersphere was immediately taken with the meme -- though no one could really explain why.

The sub-Reddit's posts are subject to some strict rules for such a whimsical pastime. Moderators vow to remove any real-world photos or any images that contain slogans or subtitles (the latter seems to be routinely ignored without consequence).
Months before that forum existed, however, the style supposedly originated on Tumblr at the beginning of last year, according to meme catalog site Know Your Meme.
The post that started it all was a logo for “McNaldo’s: I like the it™,” which inspired a flood of responses in the same vein.
