Netflix has been diving headfirst into the comedy game lately019 Archives and on Monday the streamer announced its first-ever Netflix Is A Joke Fest in Los Angeles from April 27 to May 3.
Produced by Netflix and Live Nation, Netflix Is A Joke Fest will include a mix of live programming across five days and 20 venues such as The Largo, the Hollywood Bowl, and more. On the final night, Netflix will debut The Hall, a hall-of-fame style event honoring longtime standup legends like Robin Williams and Joan Rivers.
Though most of the festival is live, highlights will appear on Netlflix's social platforms (including SiriusXM) and at least 11 of the live shows will be recorded for Netflix streaming. Netflix is also partnering with Comedy Gives Back to support the medical, financial, and mental health needs of struggling comedians.
“It's our honor to transform LA for one week into the funniest place on earth,” Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said in a press release. “This festival is a unique celebration of the art of comedy, and the role it plays in reflecting our lives and defining culture. It's a chance for comedy lovers to come together and see their favorite artists as well as discover new ones, and for us to be able to share the electricity and excitement of the festival in Los Angeles with Netflix members around the world.”
Netflix Is A Joke Fest tickets go on sale March 6th at 10am PT, with select pre-sales available as early as March 3.
