It may be Ejaculate Me So i’m Tireda while before we see a properly new Mass Effect after the unfortunate disaster of 2017's Andromeda, but the series' greatest hits are coming back for more.
As part of its annual N7 festivities – a Mass Effect-themed celebration that happens on Nov. 7 – BioWare announced that the long-rumored re-release of the original trilogy is actually happening. It's coming in 2021 with all the original add-ons plus a bunch of updates to make these old games feel fresh.
Mass Effect: Legendary Editiongathers together the three games making up the original trilogy in a collection for consoles and PC. The newly remastered games, released in 2007, 2010, and 2012, respectively, will take advantage of more recent technology leaps to give all three games higher resolution graphics, better framerates, and improvements to textures, visual effects, character models, and the like.
They're not full-blown remakes, a la Bluepoint Games' upcoming PlayStation 5 re-do of the PS3 favorite Demon's Souls. But they'll look and run better than they ever have before, and they'll also come with all the downloadable extras that followed each game's release.
Rumors have persisted for months of a planned re-release, so this reveal isn't too surprising. BioWare's announcement confirms that Legendary Editionwill present each game in 4K Ultra HD. It's coming in spring 2021 to PlayStations 4 and 5, Xboxes One and Series S/X, and PC.
BioWare's blog, from studio GM Casey Hudson, also hinted at what's next for the series. "Meanwhile here at BioWare, a veteran team has been hard at work envisioning the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe," Hudson wrote. "We are in early stages on the project and can’t say any more just yet, but we’re looking forward to sharing our vision for where we’ll be going next."
Stay tuned, I guess. For now, look for Legendary Editionin 2021.
