Overwatchplayer Matt "Dellor" Vaughn caused his title to change from pro to former pro over the weekend after he angrily spewed a series of racist and female full frontalderogatory words while streaming on Saturday.
The 28 year old competed with and streamed under the organization Toronto Esports until his contract was terminated Sunday for a breach of contract. Toronto Esports released this statement:
SEE ALSO: What 'Overwatch' needs to change to be a better esportToronto Esports has today announced the release of Matt "Dellor" Vaughn from their organization, citing breach of contract. The circumstances of the dismissal relate to an incident where Dellor used abusive and discriminatory racial language while streaming. "Toronto Esports is an organization built on inclusivity, and we have always had a zero- tolerance policy for any forms of discrimination," said President Ryan Pallett. "Immediately upon learning of the incident, the player was interviewed, admitted to the offense, and was notified that his contract with the organization was being terminated."
Dellor was playing Overwatchon Saturday when he was killed by an enemy and his teammate said he was "just standing there." This set Dellor off. He screamed and then repeatedly used a derogatory word for nearly 30 seconds.
A viewer captured Dellor's outburst and posted it on YouTube.
Warning: The video below is loud and includes racist language.
After Dellor was dropped from Toronto Esports, he posted a message on Twitter saying he deserved to have his contract terminated and blamed his choice of language on having a bad day and that -- according to him -- the opponent who killed him was cheating.
He later tweeted that he won't be returning to esports.
